Niagara Falls will welcome Italian pop and rock singer and composer Umberto Tozzi back to Fallsview Casino this spring.

Tozzi is set to perform his Gloria Forever Tour at the Avalon Theatre on April 22.

Niagara Falls Hospitality and Entertainment Developments said it is “excited” to host Tozzi, who last performed in Niagara for a two-show stop in June 2019.

With more than 70 million records sold internationally, the Italian-born singer got his start at the age of 16 when he joined Off Sound, performing in small venues around his home city of Turin. Soon after, he met Italian singer and actor Adriano Pappalardo with whom he formed a 13-piece band, touring Italy.

In 1974, Tozzi got his first success as a songwriter with the song “Un Corpo, un’anima” (One Body, One Soul), and a few years later, released his first album, “Donna Amante Mia” (Woman, My Lover).

Tozzi released “Ti Amo” in 1977, which stayed at number one on Italian song charts for seven months, before becoming an international success.

One of his best-known songs, “Gloria,” was a hit in Italy in 1979 and 1980. It was covered by American singer Laura Brannigan in 1982 and reached gold and platinum status, staying on U.S. pop charts for 36 weeks.

Tozzi re-edited his version of “Gloria,” singing it in the original Italian. The song was featured on the soundtrack of Martin Scorsese’s 2014 Oscar nominated film, “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Tozzi has released 19 studio albums in his career, as well as nine greatest hits albums and six live albums.
